The North Room Lawn also creates a different atmosphere than the 17th Green. While it may not feel quite as expansive or private, it offers a beautiful ceremony experience with the convenience of having the resort immediately nearby.

The North Room
The North Room remains one of the most recognizable reception spaces in Lake Tahoe.
Floor-to-ceiling windows showcase the lake while vaulted ceilings, natural materials, and recent updates to the space create an atmosphere that feels refined without losing its connection to the surrounding landscape. While final layouts, capacities, and event configurations continue to evolve, the expansion represents a significant investment in the future of weddings at Edgewood. Historically, larger celebrations in Lake Tahoe have often required tented events, private estates, or venues with logistical limitations. The addition of a purpose-built event space has the potential to provide couples with another luxury option while remaining fully integrated into the Edgewood resort experience.

What Most Couples Don’t Realize About Edgewood
This is the section I wish every couple could read before building their wedding timeline.
Edgewood is beautiful.

The lodge is not next to Lot B.
Lot B is not next to the shoreline.

Why I Love Lot B

I’m slightly obsessed with it.
Lot B has become one of my favorite additions to Edgewood in recent years. While it may not be the most obvious portrait location on the property, it has dramatically improved both the portrait experience and the overall flow of the wedding day.
The reason isn’t just the light.
It’s the efficiency.
Lot B allows first looks, couple portraits, wedding party photographs, and family photos to happen in a single location while maintaining beautiful, consistent lighting throughout the process.
For larger weddings, this becomes especially valuable. Instead of moving between multiple locations before the ceremony, we can accomplish a significant portion of the day’s formal photography in one place while keeping the timeline relaxed and efficient.
The Light
Lake Tahoe presents unique lighting challenges.
The lake is bright.
The sky is bright.
Wind is often present.
Lot B solves many of those problems.
Dense trees provide protection from wind while creating consistent shade and flattering light throughout the day.
The result is clean, polished portraits that photograph beautifully regardless of the time of day. Hair stays under control, guests remain comfortable, and the focus stays on the people rather than the conditions.
The Logistics
Most of my Edgewood weddings use Lot B for portraits.
I typically allow approximately one hour and fifteen minutes for first looks, couple portraits, wedding party photos, and family portraits.
The goal isn’t to fill every minute. It’s to create enough space for the day to unfold comfortably.
Sometimes we’re even finished a little ahead of schedule.
That extra time allows couples to relax before the ceremony, touch up makeup, spend time with family, or simply enjoy a few quiet moments before the day begins to move more quickly.
If couples choose to skip Lot B entirely, portraits often become more dependent on wind, uneven light, longer walking distances, and the logistical challenges that naturally come with moving around a large property.

One approach I consistently use at Edgewood is finishing family photos approximately one hour before the ceremony begins.
That buffer gives couples an opportunity to return to their room, touch up makeup, change shoes, relax with family, or simply take a breath before guests arrive.

Is a First Look Worth It?
For most couples, I strongly recommend a first look.
Without one, cocktail hour is often spent completing family photos, wedding party portraits, and couple portraits while guests enjoy the celebration.

Wind at Edgewood: What Couples Should Know
Wind is a factor at Edgewood far more often than most couples expect.
June in particular tends to be surprisingly windy, though conditions can vary throughout the wedding season.
This is another reason I frequently recommend Lot B before the ceremony.
The trees provide protection from the wind while creating consistent conditions for portraits and family photos.
After the ceremony, however, I often embrace the wind.
Some of my favorite shoreline photographs feature the movement, texture, and atmosphere that the conditions naturally create. A flowing veil, wind moving through a dress, and the energy of the lake itself can add a sense of motion and place that feels uniquely Lake Tahoe.
The combination of clean pre-ceremony portraits and more atmospheric shoreline portraits after the ceremony often creates some of the most dynamic galleries of the day. It allows couples to have both polished, timeless portraits and images that fully embrace the landscape and character of Edgewood.
Why Edgewood Sunsets Are Different
My favorite portrait location on the entire property is the shoreline at sunset.
The combination of mountain silhouettes, reflected light, and the setting sun creates some of the most beautiful conditions available anywhere in Lake Tahoe.
The most dramatic golden light is often brief, lasting only a short window before transitioning into the soft blue tones that appear after sunset.
Fortunately, that post-sunset light can be equally beautiful and often produces some of the most memorable images of the day.

Summer brings long days, vibrant energy, and the full Lake Tahoe experience. The lake is active, the days are warm, and guests can fully enjoy everything the region has to offer throughout the wedding weekend.
